Biography
Dr. Claudio Sorio is Associate Professor of General Pathology. He is the founder and serves as Director of the Departmental Laboratory of Translational Research In Cystic Fibrosis of the Department of Medicine of the University of Verona. Study of Biomarkers for Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis are the main field of interests, with a specific focus on the role of Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Gamma (PTPRG) in health and disease, that he discoverd having a role as dendritic cell biomarker and as tumor suppressor gene in chronic myeloid leukemia. In the field of cystic fibrosis since 2009 he promoted the study of the role of leukocytes, especially monocytes, in the disease and as a tool to better understand its pathogenesis and be exploited as disease biomarker. He has been leading and actively participating to multiple research projects in leukemia and Cystic Fibrosis. He authored 74 original publications in international journals and is the single major contributor in the field of PTPRG characterization. He has been serving as an editorial board member of various reputed journals. He is member of many scientific societies and has participated in relevant national and international research projects.
